Assume context will not travel
A respected employer, qualification or job title in one market may be unfamiliar in another. Do not ask the reader to infer its importance. Briefly explain the company’s scale, your operating environment and the level of responsibility you held.
Replace local shorthand with language used in the target market, while keeping the substance accurate.
Make scale comparable
Portable evidence helps a decision-maker compare unfamiliar experience with the work they need done.
- State team, customer, revenue, transaction or system scale where appropriate.
- Explain regulatory, cross-functional or geographic complexity.
- Convert currencies only when it improves understanding and label the conversion.
- Name globally recognised tools, methods or standards without overloading the page.
Address eligibility clearly
Location, work authorisation and relocation expectations should be accurate and easy to find. Avoid vague statements that force a recruiter to guess whether the move is practical.
Market translation is not about making experience sound foreign or impressive. It is about removing the context gap so the evidence can be judged fairly.
